Warrnambool’s 1300 Temp Fence has won after competing alongside more than 90 teams who took part in WorkSafe’s Top Tradie competition over the past six-weeks.
Teams across Victoria competed for weekly prizes by answering a mix of sport and safety-related questions each week.
The company won four tickets to one of Victoria’s premier motorcycle events.
Figures reveal more than 20 Victorian tradies a week were seriously hurt on housing construction sites last year, costing the industry $ 17-million in medical costs, wages and other expenses.
Owner of 1300 Temp Fence, Darren Lynch, said he was excited to claim his prize and attend the event with business partner, Xavier Thornton and their team.
“We pride ourselves on best practice in safety and it is rewarding to be acknowledged by WorkSafe,” he said.
WorkSafe’s group leader for the Warrnambool region, Phillip Ritchie, said he was pleased to see a local company lead the charge in safety practice knowledge.
“Over the past six weeks, we had more than 90 teams take part in Top Tradie. It’s great to know these tradies are talking about the importance of workplace safety on construction sites,” he said.
