A fire yesterday morning at an engineering shed in Mackay, North Queensland will be the subject of an ongoing investigation. Fortunately there were no workers injured in the fire in Paget but it took fire crews several hours to bring the fire under control.

Buildings close by were evacuated and the eight firefighting crews that attended established an exclusion zone to fight the blaze that was in a large building and generated a lot of heat.

It is believed that the fire was started by sparks from an angle grinder being used within a painting bay at the shed.
