Brewery Strike Over Safety Concerns 3 Days Before Footy Grand Final

Workers at Victoria’s premier brewery called a strike yesterday because they are concerned about their safety in the workplace.

The issues, according to the Herald Sun, centered on changes that have been implemented to the flow of work at the premises in Abbotsford with a worker sustaining injuries because there are less workers on one of the production lines.

There are also issues where the workers believe that the company has abandoned a voluntary redundancy plan, which has allegedly decided on targeted worker reductions instead.

Talks were held at Fair Work Australia yesterday afternoon and the workers voting at 1pm today whether to return to work.

Apparently there should be no interruption to the supply of beer over the weekend.
